Our drama classes for kids and teens are designed to give children an excellent grounding in scripted acting with qualified teachers in a beautiful theatre setting and a creative, vibrant community atmosphere.

In addition to lifelong friendships, the skills that children and teenagers develop during drama classes are valuable to those wanting to pursue a career in acting and to those who are joining for a fun, expressive, after school activity. The theatre fosters life skills such as confidence, public speaking skills, team-work, imagination, communication and literacy.

All of our classes conclude with a showcase in our theatre, giving the children a chance to put what they have learned into practice and gain important stage experience in front of an audience in a professional theatre.

Class sizes are limited to 15 participants per class to ensure sufficient individual attention.

The Playhouse is a registered London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examination centre and examinations are offered to parents who would like their children to have an accredited certificate. LAMDA is one of the oldest drama schools in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1861, it quickly established itself as a centre of excellence in performance training. LAMDA has provided theatre and the world of film and television with generation upon generation of first-class actors and expertly-trained stage managers across the world. It is also one of only three drama schools in the Conservatoire of Dance and Drama (CDD).

At the Playhouse we also offer wonderful opportunities for young people to gain experience in the theatre business through our volunteer and work experience programme, or internships.
