Would you like your child to be more expressive, creative, and spontaneous? Would you like a fun way to teach them to become a better risk taker, listener, or story teller? IMPROVISATION is a skill learned by performers, teachers, business managers, creative experts and children around the world.  Whether its for performance or just a fun hobby, improvisation skills can make children more aware of the subtle messages all around them.  It can make them respond quicker than they normally would. It can lower the fear level associated with risk taking. Besides being useful in every area of life, improvisation is just plain fun and a great way to make life-long friendships!

The Courtyard Playhouse is a KHDA Licensed Performing Arts Training Centre

Classes are taught by full-time improv performers and instructors in our professional performance space - The Courtyard Playhouse where you can see them perform on stage every week.

Every season we have an international visiting instructor which gives our youth the opportunity to be exposed to other styles and learn from some of the best improv instructors the improv' world has to offer.

The Playhouse is Dubai’s first and only dedicated, purpose-built improv theatre, with a vibrant and active improv scene. This is an incredible opportunity for teens to experience working with professionals in a friendly environment.

These improvisation courses for kids and teenagers are fast paced, exciting classes that aim to give participants a solid grounding in the different contemporary styles of improv’ that dominate the writing, acting and comedy world today. Each week they'll play games and explore a challenging variety of improv exercises that unleash their natural creativity and humour. The workshops will culminate in a Showcase.

Our aim is to work with small groups of committed, talented teenagers on developing their acting and improv skills, with a view to performing in the Inter School Theatresports Tournament!

Workshop participants have the option to gain invaluable experience every Wednesday 8-10pm, at the Playhouse weekly improv show, Maestro, to learn the ropes: helping with lighting, sound, scenography, and front of house.

The Playhouse is the only International Theatresports Institute member and Theatresports license holder in the Middle East.

Improv’, as popularised by the TV show 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?', ignites spontaneity, develops lateral thinking, encourages team work and releases the potential artist in us all.
