How often do you hold workshops?

The Desert Monologues Acting workshop takes place three times a year, February, April and October. Improv workshops and classes are ongoing throughout the year. Please check out our schedule.

How do I register for workshops?

Complete our online booking form. Payments can be made in advance through our online payment system, by bank transfer or in cash in person at the Courtyard Playhouse.

Do I need to book in advance for your shows?

No, however, we do advise notifying us of your attendance on our online booking system as we will give preference to those who have done so. 5 Minutes prior to the start of the show, we will release all seats.

Can I pay online for a show?

No, our payment policy is at the door collection only.

Do you take credit card payments?

We do not have a credit card machine on the premises. The nearest ATM machine is at Times Square Centre around the corner. Please make sure you bring cash with you! We do have a secure online payment system in place for workshop fees.

Delivery Policy

Payment confirmation for workshops will be received by email once the transaction has been cleared. Please bring the payment confirmation with you to The Courtyard Playhouse on the first day of your workshop.

Refund Policy

50% Deposit for workshops is non refundable 1 week prior to the start of the course, the remaining 50% will be refunded if cancellation request is received 2 days prior to the start of the course. If cancellation request is only received the day before, or after the start of the course, the fee is non refundable.

Do your shows have assigned seats or are they General Admission?

All of our shows are General Admission. We will start seating around 15 minutes before showtime. If you have special requirements and would like more time to be seated, or need to sit closer for vision- or hearing- related concerns, please arrive a half hour before show time and let our box office person know. We will be happy to accommodate you.

Where do I park?

The Courtyard does have limited parking in the front of the building (Limetree Cafe side). There are also several parking lots nearby. We recommend patrons make time for parking when taking a trip to the Playhouse. Please be aware that the Courtyard Building is closed from 10pm onwards and on Fridays, so it is best not to park at the back.

What age are your shows appropriate for?

It’s improv, and different every time, so we cannot give you an exact estimate, but our shows are usually PG-13 in content. Our evening shows are still for adults and not meant for children. They may contain harsh language and innuendo. If an evening show is family-friendly, it will be stated in the description for the show on our website. If you would like a recommendation or further information about the possible content or themes in a show beforehand, feel free to e-mail our Artistic Director Kemsley Dickinson at kemsley@courtyardplayhouse.com.

How long are your shows?

Our improv' and comedy shows are about an hour and a half each. Nt Live and Met screenings can be up to 3 hours in length.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, our theatre is upstairs and is not wheelchair accessible.

Can I bring food & drinks into the theatre?

No, only bottled water is allowed in. We usually sell snacks and drinks at intermission.
