About Rami Boraie:
Rami Boraie was born and raised in the quiet city of Ottawa, Ontario before making the bold decision to move to the not-so-quite Cairo, Egypt to study dentistry and reconnect with his heritage.
He has been writing comedy since he was 16 years old, and finally got the courage to go on stage at the age of 21. Considered a pioneer of English stand-up comedy in Cairo, Rami co-created the first ever local, all-English stand-up comedy show in the city in 2009. The show, Shut Up and Laugh, was a huge success, drawing an audience of over 750 people and thereby launching his comedy career. Soon after, Rami was performing in various venues across Cairo. In 2010, he ventured outside of the country when he was invited to perform alongside prominent comedians Dean Obeidallah and Maysoon Zayid as part of the New York Arab American Heritage Week in New York City. That same year, he also performed in Absolute Comedy Club in Ottawa, Canada.
Rami has since performed in various cities across North America, Europe and has had his tweet once featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. He was also featured in Comedy Central Arabia’s Comedy Central Presents, a showcase of the region’s top talent and placing second runner-up for the Kit Kat Arabia Comedy Break in 2013.
Rami has been sweeping away the competition in Powerpointless at the Courtyard Playhouse since Improvised Powerpoint shows became a thing.
He enjoys playing/watching/blogging about hockey, baking, getting into debates about current events and watching reality shows on Netflix!
